Fluorescence Approaches to Probing Dynamic Processes in Biological Systems (22056)

Fluorescence is a powerful technique that could provide spatiotemporal information with exquisite sensitivity. The lifetime of fluorescence emission is in the nanosecond range, which is relatively fast compared to most protein conformational transitions, making fluorescence one of the most suitable methods for the study of dynamic processes of biomolecules. In this presentation, I will introduce how we make use of a combination of advanced fluorescence techniques as well as new fluorescent probes to elucidate conformational dynamics of biomolecules such as cytochrome c-cardiolipin interaction and amyloid protein aggregation. Meanwhile, a series of photostable fluorogens with aggregation-induced emission characteristics will be presented for monitoring and manipulating the morphological dynamics of subcellular organelles.
