Cell- free protein synthesis is a versatile tool for investigating the misincorporation of amino acids into proteins because of the ease of modification of the reaction conditions and convenient circumvention of toxicity issues. Our research investigates incorporation of unnatural amino acids that are unsuitable for alternative peptide synthesis methods, as well as analysis of the methods by which amino acids are substituted by other natural amino acids during protein synthesis.
