Susan holds the Chair of Microbiology and is Director of the Central Oxford Structural Microscopy and Imaging Centre at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology in Oxford. She started as a X-ray crystallographer but has been increasingly involved in determining structures by cryo-electron microscopy. Biologically her group are interested in bacteria infection and host immune responses, with a particular focus on integral membrane protein complexes.
